Is it me or has everything just shut down for downloading. Everyone that reads this needs to find a way to talk to their representatives. This is serious stuff for those that are not paying attention to what is going on. Not only will this site shut down but many other sites will also shut themselves down because of the legislation. Do something to stop it. If Google or Yahoo or Wikipedia asks you to vote in their favor, do it! Or you will lose all of this! SOPA is the end of everything we thought the internet was!!!!

Is this not just for piracy?

It's SOPA and PIPA. This is if anyone posts or uploads anything to ur site u are liable for the content. It's not just piracy. For example, if someone posts something to do with drugs or anything seen to be under the law on Youtube, Youtube would be liable for it.

It's not quite as extreme as that last post but, given time and more legislation, it easily could be. No matter, let your representatives know how you feel. No person should be reponsible for anothers actions, unless they are your child.

it more like taking power away from the people.
syria for example have used it to oganise huge demonstrtions againt their leaders.
and the world leaders see that as a tool that will disrupt their hold on power.
