Worldwide Trance is the most popular genre of EDM. In San Francisco, it seems that house it's very popular.

Trance rocks but I like tech house

I'd say house is more popular than trance in the U.S., you can even hear some house influenced tracks on the mainstream radio (David Guetta). And all the clubs here in Sacramento either play top 40/radio/rap/hip-hop and there are some but very few play house, I don't hear no trance music at all. I would have to travel to San Francisco to hear trance and like Sergio said, there are more house music being played in clubs than trance.

House is way to mainstream :P

its really hard to msay or guess... i love trance and hardcore.. yet both different genres and both different BPM

when it comes to popularity it depends on where you are at
overall around the world trance is the most popular
but around here you will find that dubstep is more popular (T__T)

House obviously. All the new pop tunes are made with the same electro house kinda formula... :P

But trance is definitely better than house music.

I personally think that they are both eqaully huge EDM genres. I don't know if one is more popular than the other.

I think house is more mainstream too but mainly because it is totally bland and unemotional, easier for people who listen to anything and arent that fussed about one sort of music over another to get into.

Trance demands more and gives more to those who truly enage with it, I think that is why the commercial masses dont get it!
