You cant compare Ableton and Vitual DJ.

Virtual DJ is like a basic DJ setup in a window (Deck A + Deck B and a mixer with some effects)

Ableton looks more like a movie editing program, but with some work and a midi mixer you can use it like a normal setup (but wont look like it on your screen)

I would recommend Mixmeister for starting out with then Ableton or Sony Acid.
